The Old Manuka Smoked Hokonui Moonshine is born out of a remarkable chapter in New Zealand history — the Gore District endured over 50 years of prohibition, during which illicit moonshine was secretly distilled in the Hokonui Hills. Today, that spirit lives on legally and exclusively. Unlike whisky, moonshine is unaged — this expression starts with the same pure grain spirit base as the Original, inspired by Mary McRae's recipe, then is infused with manuka to give it a rich, smoky depth unique to the Hokonui Hills.
